Welcome to the Preparatory Department of Edgbaston High School for Girls, part of the Lower School.

Girls are able to join the Preparatory Department at any time subject to an entrance test and a place being available. Girls adapt quickly to become part of the Prep family.

We are proud of our academic successes and have a proven track record in guiding girls into the senior school of their choice. Many achieve scholarships. However, the Preparatory Department also has a strong musical and sporting tradition. There are a wide range of extra curricular activities available to all pupils irrespective of their ability levels. If the girls are keen and interested then they may participate. Our recently refurbished computer suite with 24 stations is used throughout the day. Participation and enjoyment are the objectives! We encourage all our girls to become independent thinkers, self sufficient and considerate to each other and the wider community.

With our Senior School on the same site, we are able to share a fully equipped gymnasium, swimming pool, large music school and the spacious ‘Octagon’ performance area.

I believe Edgbaston High School is special. It has a wonderfully supportive ethos which is almost tangible. Please visit the school and talk to our pupils. They are our best ambassadors!
