Entry at Year 7


Girls are required to take tests in:

·  English
·  Mathematics
·  a short dictation to assess grammar and spelling
·  A report is requested from the present school/An interview is arranged.


Extra time may be allowed in Entrance Tests

a) where an up-to-date Educational Psychologist’s Report supporting and requesting this is submitted with the application for entry, and

b) following an interview with parents to ascertain the suitability of the provision which EHS can currently make for pupils with Special Educational Needs.


A confidential report on achievement and progress is requested from candidates’ present schools. All candidates are usually interviewed. The School reserves the right not to interview candidates on the basis of poor performance in the written Entrance Tests and is under no obligation to enter into correspondence concerning such decisions. Entrance Tests for admission in September take place in January and offers of places are made in mid February. Parents’ decisions on acceptance (or otherwise) are required on, or as soon as possible following, the first Monday in March – a date agreed by local independent schools.


Entry other than at Year 7


Admission in other age groups is dependent on the availability of places and performance in selective entry tests. A selective admissions test at the appropriate age level is administered in core subjects:


·  English
·  Mathematics
·  French (or the pupil's core Modern Foreign Language).
